Auckland Airport sees Chinese passengers soar

Auckland International Airport Limited (ASX:AIA) has announced a 5.4 per cent jump in international passenger numbers for February thanks to a strong Chinese New Year travel period. International passengers were up 36,000 whilst Chinese visitor arrivals to Auckland Airport were up 85 per cent. 
 
Meanwhile international arrivals at Queenstown Airport were up 38 per cent on the same period last year with growth on all trans-Tasman routes. 
 
Cairns Airport also had a good result with extra charter services from China during the New Year period driving passenger numbers 12.6 per cent higher than February last year. 
 
Auckland International Airport made a net profit of $88.7 million for the six months to 31 December 2014.
