SingTel’s Optus strikes Netflix streaming deal

Singapore Telecommunications Limited's (ASX:SGT) Optus has struck a streaming deal with US based on-demand Internet streaming media company Netflix. 
 
From March 24 until July 5 new and re-contracting customers can get a six-month subscription to Netflix through Optus when they sign up for an eligible plan and activate their service. 
 
Optus will also give prepaid customers a three-month subscription when purchasing any prepaid phone or mobile broadband device and activating the SIM.
 
CEO Allen Lew says partnering with Netflix is a significant milestone for Optus as the company looks to bringing a more superior TV experience to customers across its fixed and mobile platform. 
 
Singapore Telecommunications reported a net profit of $1.68 billion in the 2014 financial year.
