BHP Billiton confirms death at Olympic Dam

BHP Billiton Limited (ASX:BHP) has confirmed a worker has died following an accident at its Olympic Dam copper mine in Roxby Downs, South Australia.
 
The diversified mining giant says the employee was fatally injured while working at the underground mine yesterday morning. 
 
The company has advised it is working closely with the authorities and a full investigation is underway. 
 
Media reports suggest the worker died following a rock fall and that BHP has since suspended work at the mine while it undertakes the investigation. 
 
BHP Billiton reported a net profit of $16.16 billion in the 2014 financial year.
