Whitehaven Coal Limited
(ASX:WHC) has reported a drop in output and sales in the second quarter of the 2015 financial year.
The mining company’s quarterly saleable coal production fell 17 per cent to 2.4 million tonnes and total sales fell 7 per cent to 2.95 million tonnes.
Over the quarter Whitehaven started coal railings from its Maules Creek mine in New South Wales ahead of schedule and first coal sales occurred last week.
Whitehaven expects the Maules Creek mine to have an initial production rate of 6 million tonnes per annum from mid-March 2015.
Whitehaven Coal reported a net loss of $38.38 million in the 2014 financial year.
