- Study includes further metallurgical test-work
Blackthorn Resources Limited (ASX: BTR) (“the Company” or “Blackthorn Resources”) is pleased to announce the initiation of a pre-feasibility study (PFS) on the Kitumba Mineral Resource which is contained within the Company’s 100% held Mumbwa Project in central Zambia.
Exploration context
The Phase 6 diamond drilling program which commenced at Kitumba in July 2012 included drilling approximately 14,000 meters for both mineral resource definition and potential extension of the Kitumba deposit. Infill drilling has been designed with the objective of improving the confidence level of the current Mineral Resource estimate and potentially upgrading some areas of the resource from the Inferred to the Indicated category. The step-out drilling seeks to expand the area of known mineralisation and potentially increase total tonnes.
The mineral resource definition drilling component of the Phase 6 program was completed at the end of December 2012, with the receipt of copper and gold assays expected to continue during coming months. Step out drilling will continue in Q1 of CY2013. The results of the drilling program released to date have been very encouraging with some exceptional results having been achieved. These results will be incorporated in the existing data-set to potentially upgrade the Mineral Resource.
