Last Quarter Wobbles

by Gary Glover

Seasonal aspects generally point to a Christmas rally which starts from mid November to early January and this is traditionally one of the strongest periods of the calendar year.  September and October are two of the weakest months from a purely statistical point of view so some caution is always warranted as October in particular has a habit of marking lows of significance.  The 10 year cycle is particulary relevant this calendar year as the cycle has a strong pattern that often replicates, more strongly than alot of the other years.

As you can see from this 10 year cycle chart of the All Ordinaries.  The August / September period has a history of finding a peak before some end of year weakness.  The last quarter of the '0" year is historically a very weak period so we need to be wary of the last quarter wobbles this year.
