Belararox (ASX: BRX) has commenced drilling at the Malambo target within the Toro-Malambo-Tambo (TMT) Project in Argentina’s San Juan Province, while drilling at the Tambo South target continues as planned.
Drilling at Malambo began with a second diamond drill rig, targeting an interpreted porphyry copper-gold system. The first hole, TMT-MAL-DDH-001, is planned to a depth of approximately 1,200 metres. Initial drilling will test the Halley Model target within 600 metres of the surface, with deeper drilling expected to reach the Cohen Model target early next month.
At Tambo South, drilling commenced on 18 January at a high-priority porphyry target. The first hole, TMT-TSU-DDH-001, is planned for a total depth of 1,300 metres. As of 9 February, drilling has reached 790 metres, with progress continuing as expected.
Geologists have identified copper sulphides, including covellite, chalcopyrite, and bornite, as well as molybdenite, which are key indicators of a deeper porphyry system. Notable mineral occurrences observed include:
- 286.9m and 288m: covellite (0.2%) as elongate crystals in fractures and veinlets
- 562.7m to 596.60m: disseminated chalcopyrite (trace, 0.02%) in veins
- 596.60m to 602.0m: B-type quartz veins (up to 0.7%) with molybdenite (trace, 0.01%)
- 613.7m to 620.60m: B-type quartz veinlets with quartz-molybdenite-chalcopyrite up to 0.9%, with chalcopyrite up to 0.2% occurring in veins and fractures
Managing Director Arvind Misra stated that both drill rigs are now operational, marking a key milestone for the TMT Project. He highlighted that drilling at Tambo South has confirmed the presence of B veins with chalcopyrite and a magnetite centreline, features characteristic of porphyry-style copper mineralisation.
Core samples from the drilling program have been logged and cut, with samples scheduled for analysis at ALS laboratory. Assay results are expected by the end of March.
Visual estimates of mineralisation should not be considered a proxy or substitute for laboratory analysis, as they do not provide information on grades, impurities, or other physical properties relevant to valuations.
