Ausenco Limited (ASX:AAX) has won an engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) contract from HudBay Minerals Inc (TSX:HBM, NYSE:HBM).
The engineering company will provide services to HudBay’s $US1.1 billion Constancia copper project in Peru.
The latest award will include the development of the mine, concentrator and associated infrastructure and builds on Ausenco’s longstanding work with HudBay.
Ausenco will work on the project on a limited notice to proceed basis until the project receives final HudBay board approval, which is expected in July this year.
Ausenco says South America remains a key growth area for its business.
Ausenco generated a net profit of $26.4 million in the 2011 financial year.
