Sydney Airport (ASX:SYD) has successfully completed a US private placement bond issue.

The company raised about $400 million through the multi-tranche placement.

CEO, Geoff Culbert says the Airport is pleased to announce the return to one of its offshore funding markets following an extensive debt investor update throughout the US.

Proceeds raised will be used to repay all drawn down bank debt, unlocking additional liquidity to cover future debt maturities and to fund ongoing investment.

Shares in Sydney Airport (ASX:SYD) shares closed 0.3 per cent higher to $6.74 on Friday.
