Asia-Pacific telecommunications provider, Superloop (ASX:SLC), has purchased SubPartners Pty Ltd for US$2.5 million.

SubPartners was established to develop high-performance secure international cable systems between Australian and the rest of the world.

Superloop expects this acquisition to deliver it strategic assets, including ownership of international submarine cable capacity as a member of the INDIGO consortium (which includes Australian telco Telstra and Singapore’s Singtel).

This consortium is building the INDIGO West cable (from Singapore to Perth) and the INDO Central cable (between Perth and Sydney) – with the cable system expected to finish construction by mid-2019.

This morning, Superloop shares are trading 1.75% higher at $2.33.
