Antares Fixed Income (Antares) is a specialist fixed interest manager covering a range of domestic and international securities.

Fund Overview
The Antares Inflation Linked Bond Fund was launched in June 2011.

Inflation linked bonds (linkers) offer a hedge against inflation by maintaining the real purchasing power of the principal investment. This is achieved by adjusting the capital value of the bond by the quarterly change in the inflation rate.

Antares views linkers as a separate asset class within the fixed interest sector. With institutional knowledge developed over 20 years in the Australian inflation linked bond market, Antares applies specialist skills to manage linkers.

Antares’ investment approach is based on a rigorous assessment of the domestic and international drivers of linkers and nominal bonds as well as the interplay of these two markets through the economic and interest rate cycles.

The Fund is constructed by capturing the risks of the market and overlaying a range of diversified strategies which enhances returns and helps manage portfolio risk. These strategies are focused primarily on duration, yield curve positioning as well as the relationship between nominal and real bonds i.e. breakeven inflation (BEI).

About the Portfolio Manager

Tano Pelosi
B.Com., M.Ec., M.Com., PhD

Tano has responsibility for managing inflation linked securities portfolios and supporting responsibilities for the management of broader fixed interest portfolios.

Tano joined Antares in August 2004 following a number of years in roles involving capital markets research at NAB Wholesale and Westpac Institutional Bank. He has over 18 years investment experience.

Fund information
Objective The aim of the Fund is to provide investors with a level of long term protection from inflation by actively managing a portfolio of Australian Commonwealth and Semi Government inflation linked bond and nominal securities.
Benchmark UBS Government Inflation Index 0–10 Years.
Approach Antares employs an active investment management approach using a range of strategies with a focus on maintaining a high degree of liquidity.
Investment strategy • Extracts returns from the interplay between nominal and real interest rates.
• Uses a combination of diversified investment strategies to generate excess returns and manage risk for the portfolio. These strategies include term extension, yield curve positioning, duration, relative value positioning and various other tactical strategies.
• Has the capacity to strategically deviate from the benchmark whilst always maintaining a minimum exposure to inflation linked bonds.
Investment time frame 3–5 years plus.
Income distribution The income of the Fund will generally be calculated effective the last day of September,
December, March and June.
Fees and costs Management Fee is 0.30% p.a. of the Fund’s net asset value before fees.
