Tech stocks drag the market down: ASX closed 0.9% lower
24 Feb 2021 - It has been a negative day of trade for the ASX. After opening in the red the local bourse failed to gain momentum. Tech stocks dragged on the market today - Appen (ASX:APX) shares are down over 12%. At the closing bell the S&P/ASX 200 index closed 61 points lower, or 0.9% lower to finish at 6,778.

Annual wage growth remains at 1.4%: ASX 0.4% lower at noon
24 Feb 2021 - The ASX opened lower following mixed leads from Wall Street and is now tracking 0.4% lower at noon, that’s 29 points down at 6,810. Bega Cheese (ASX:BGA) shares are up after they reported profit after tax was up 154% on the last half. And Eagers Automotive (ASX:APE) appoints a new CEO.

Powell says recovery is far from complete: ASX poised to open lower
24 Feb 2021 - Following mixed leads from US markets, the ASX looks set to open lower this morning. The US Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell says recovery is ‘far from complete.’ He also reiterated that the central bank planned to keep up low interest rates and large-scale bond buying. The tech sell-off continues with the NASDAQ continuing to be hit. And Seven West Media (ASX:SWM) has signed a Letter of Intent to provide news content to Facebook.

Facebook news content block removed: ASX closes 0.9% higher
23 Feb 2021 - Social media giant Facebook has agreed to lift its ban on Australian news content. Rising commodity prices continued to be the stimulant for the energy and mining rally, with BHP (ASX:BHP) and Oil Search (ASX:OSH) all edging higher. Industrial property investment heavyweight Centuria Industrial REIT (ASX:CIP) has successfully snapped up a modern warehouse in the north-western Sydney suburb of Bella Vista.

IT cancels out energy & mining gains: Aus shares steady at 6775
23 Feb 2021 - The ASX opened steady and zig-zagged throughout the morning. Mining and energy heavyweights have benefitted from rising commodity prices, while falls in IT, telcos and consumer discretionaries cancelled out these gains to keep the ASX200 flat at 6775 at noon.

US stocks decline in fear of rising interest rates: ASX to open lower
23 Feb 2021 - The ASX200 is slated for a negative start, as US stocks declined on Monday in fear of rising interest rates and possible inflation. A new royal commission has been established to review Crown Resorts' (ASX:CWN) Melbourne casino license

Bank of Queensland (ASX:BOQ) to buy ME Bank for $1.3b: ASX closes 0.2% lower
22 Feb 2021 - It has been a rollercoaster day of trade for the Australian share market. At the closing bell the S&P/ASX 200 index closed 13 points lower, or 0.2 per cent lower to finish at 6,781. Bank of Queensland (ASX:BOQ) said it will buy ME Bank for $1.325 billion.

Costa (ASX:CGC) shares rise on full year results: ASX tracking 0.2% higher at noon
22 Feb 2021 - The ASX dropped at the open but is now tracking 0.2% higher at noon, or 16 points higher at 6,810. On the futures market the SPI is 4 points higher. Shares in Costa Group Holdings (ASX:CGC) rose after reporting a full year statutory net profit of $60.8 million, from a loss of $36.1 million a year ago. Shares in Reliance World Wide (ASX:RWC) fell today despite reporting net profit after tax rising 82%.

Vaccine rollouts start today across the country: ASX poised to open lower
22 Feb 2021 - ASX is poised to open lower this morning, extending Friday’s retreat. Covid-19 vaccine rollouts begin across the country with the first shot of the Pfizer vaccine been administered on Victorian soil. Iron ore futures in Asia fell on Friday after a survey of post-Lunar New Year inventories of steel products in China showed a significant increase. BlueScope (ASX:BSL) today reported NPAT up 78 per cent.

Goodman Group's (ASX:GMG) operating profit is up 16%: ASX down 0.2% over the week
19 Feb 2021 - The ASX opened lower and closed 1.3% or 92 point lower at 6,794 points. Over the week, we closed 0.2% or 13 points lower. Goodman Group (ASX:GMG) reports a 16% increase in their operating profit to $614.9 million for the six months ending December 2020, compared to prior corresponding period.
