Rutila is pleased to announce that approval has been given from the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) for the expansion of capacity at the proposed Balla Balla Port. This proposed expansion involves minor amendments to the original design approved by the Minister for the Environment in August 2013, an extension to the trestle jetty, and the use of additional barges. Approval was granted via Section 45C of the Environmental Protection Act 1986, which allows the Chairman of the EPA to approve changes to proposals if they are not expected to have a significant detrimental effect on the environment, in addition to or different from, the effect of the original proposal.
