Condor Metals Limited (ASX:CNK) is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Jones as Exploration Manager. Andrew will be responsible for exploration on existing tenements, and assessing opportunities for Condor’s future growth. Andrew commences employment on 13 July 2011.
Andrew is a geologist with a Masters Degree from University of Tasmania. He has 15 years experience in the industry across a wide range of commodities and geographical locations.
Since 2008, Andrew has worked as the principal geological consultant for his own Tasmanian based company. Prior to this, he worked as a senior geologist on a variety of projects including the Lady Annie copper project in NW Queensland and with Bass Metals exploring for base metals in Tasmania. He spent four years in similar roles exploring for gold and base metals in Africa. Andrew is returning to Western Australia where he started out his career with Aberfoyle Resources in 1996.

Andrew’s first task will be to complete the first round of drilling at Condor’s Kallona Fe/Mn prospect near Nullagine. Condor commenced drilling in June and anticipates the initial program with take approximately one month to complete. All being well, it will continue with the second phase which will largely focus on the depth and thickness of the Marra Mamba iron formation.
Condor’s next priority is evaluation of the Gundocketa pisolitic iron prospect 60km east of Kalgoorlie. Preliminary work at the prospect, which lays 20Km west of Fairstar Resources’ Steeple Hill iron ore project, showed continuous pisolitic deposition over a cumulative strike distance of around 10Kms x 100-700m width. Of particular interest are iron rich rocks outcropping on the surface near the lake and to the north. Two auger soil programs indicated iron enriched lateritic pisolite horizon. Future work planned involves additional lag sampling on a wider spaced grid pattern, and excavation of trenches to determine the depth and quality of pisolites.
