Appointment of New Director
The Directors of Castlemaine Goldfields announce the appointment of Mr Peter Lester as a non-executive director of the company.
Mr Lester has over 35 years’ experience in the mining industry in various roles including engineering, project management, corporate and financial advisory services and in business development roles with responsibility for strategic planning and corporate development. He has held senior executive positions with North Ltd, Newcrest Mining Limited, Oxiana Limited and most recently with Citadel Resource Group Limited as an Executive Director. In the latter two roles, Mr Lester’s focus has been on growth, including the acquisitions of 20% of Sepon, Prominent Hill, Golden Grove and Agincourt Resources for Oxiana and on the Jabal Sayid Project, capital raising and Equinox takeover for Citadel.
With the appointment of Mr Lester, the board of the company now comprises five members, 3 of them independent, non- executive directors. This expansion has been planned to coincide with the company transitioning from explorer to producer at it’s Ballarat Gold Project and the ongoing assessment of the company’s other substantial exploration projects at Castlemaine, Tarnagulla, Sebastian and Berringa.
Mr. Lester’s wide ranging technical and commercial background is particularly well suited to complement and enhance the board composition, as the company evaluates additional ways to add shareholder value from the Ballarat infrastructure and available mill capacity and other growth opportunities.
