20 Apr 2018 - Market Wrap: The ASX had its first day of red after five days of straight gains, closing 0.2 per cent lower today but gaining 1.4 per cent over the week. Slow start on Friday: Aus shares flat at noon

20 Apr 2018 - Market at Midday. ASX falls at the open on the back of negative leads but claws back at noon. Half of the sectors are making gains today, with financials, energy and staples boding well. Meantime, commodities continued their rally but miners are seeing slight profit taking. Fonterra Co-Operative Group (ASX:FSF) has issued about NZ$9.4 million of shares for its 2018 interim dividend re-investment plan. Slater and Gordon (ASX:SGH) appoints Michael Neilson as company secretary. Adairs (ASX:ADH) shares gain 16 per cent after further FY18 earnings upgrade.

After soaring the previous session, and pressing higher in early London trade, base metals ended lower amid speculation Russia could nationalise aluminium producer Rusal to help it survive the impact of US sanctions. At home, REA Group (ASX:REA) announced that realestate.com.au has made the final payment of $104.5 million to take over iProperty Group.

Fifth day of gains on commodity rush: Aus shares close 0.3 per cent higher

19 Apr 2018 - Market Wrap Report. The ASX inked its fifth straight day of gains today with miners leading half of the sectors higher. It comes as commodity prices saw a strong rally with iron ore price up 2 per cent at US$65.88 per tonne, while the alumina and nickel prices rose. Woodside Petroleum (ASX:WPL) Chairman Michael Chaney used the AGM to handover his role to Richard Goyder, also noting Australia is, “‘out of kilter’ with the rest of the world with its corporate taxes. REA Group’s (ASX:REA) realestate.com.au completed the purchase of iProperty after it completed the final payment of $104.5 million. Click for more.

Miners rally on commodity price boost: Aus shares 0.54% higher at noon

19 Apr 2018 - ASX on track for fifth day of straight gains with the mining sector leading over half of the sectors higher as commodity prices rally. Workforce participation rate hits all-time high. Alumina (ASX:AWC) reported its JV with the NYSE listed Alcoa has seen a lift in its bauxite and alumina business earnings. Murray Goulburn (ASX:MGC) CEO Ari Mervis and Chief Financial Officer David Mallinson will leave the group on 1 May 2018, once the proposed sale of all of its operating assets and liabilities to Saputo has been completed. Adelaide Brighton (ASX:ABC) inked a contract with BHP (ASX:BHP) to continue to supply cement and lime to its Olympic Dam Mine. Click for more.

19 Apr 2018 - Australian shares are in a position for a higher open today thanks to surging prices for nickel and aluminium lifting miners in London and New York. IBM dragged the Dow down. US stocks edged higher as rising oil prices boosted energy producers. In New York, BHP Billiton (ASX:BHP) gained 3.1 per cent and Rio Tinto (ASX:Rio) was 3.9 per cent higher. FIRB gives Saputo-MG (ASX:MGC) deal go ahead.

18 Apr 2018 - Market Wrap Report. ASX200 gains for 4th straight day with Rio (ASX:RIO) and Woodside (ASX:WPL) reporting. Over half of the sectors made green tracks today with consumer discretionary overtaking energy as the leader. It comes as the likes of Harvey Norman (ASX:HVN) gained 2.7 per cent after a broker upgrade. While Whitehaven Coal (ASX:WHC) oiled up 3.6 per cent after a lift in crude oil price. AMP (ASX:AMP) lost 2.2 per cent coming under fire again amid the banking royal commission. Vicinity Centres (ASX:VCX) exchanged contracts to sell Brandon Park in Victoria for $135 million and Fletcher Building (ASX:FBU) has raised NZ$500 million from institutional shareholders. Fourth day of gains: Aus shares 0.2% higher at noon

18 Apr 2018 - Market at Midday Report. Travelers from China hit record high. Woodside Petroleum (ASX:WPL) has seen its revenue rise 18 per cent quarter on quarter to $1.2 billion. Credit Corp (ASX:CCP) which acquires past due debts from major banks, finance companies, telcos etc, is seeing big bounce in its shares today. It comes as it announced its US earnings are on track and its expecting its US net profit after tax to be in positive territory in FY18. Jupiter Mines (ASX:JMS) started trading today, floating with an issue price of 40 cents, opening at 39 cents and it trades at 37.5 cents. Click for more.

18 Apr 2018 - Australian shares are set to rise today as technology stocks – including Atlassian, rallied on Wall St. Alphabet and Amazon.com rose more than 3 percent yesterday after Netflix kicked off earnings season for megacap technology companies with a 10 per cent gain. Iron ore is up and oil edged higher. Bitcoin saw a sudden drop yesterday after seven straight days of gains for Crypto. Locally, Isentia Group (ASX:ISD) has been made a party to proceedings in the Copyright Tribunal by Meltwater Australia against the Copyright Agency.
