Thomson Resources Ltd (ASX:TMZ) Preliminary Drill Results received from Ares Gold Project

Preliminary Drill results received from Ares Gold Project

- Anomalous gold mineralisation encountered in every hole at the Ares Gold Project
- Drilling confirmed bedrock extensions to known gold mineralisation – strike length now greater than 2.4km
- Follow up drilling planned with additional prospective targets defined from recent drilling
- Drilling of high priority Cobar-type targets due to commence in May 2011

Thomson Resources Ltd (ASX: TMZ) has concluded a preliminary drilling program at its Ares gold project in northwestern NSW with assays received from 13 drill holes. Anomalous gold assays were returned from four metre composite samples, with every hole encountering gold mineralisation, extending the strike length of the gold bearing zone to 2.4km.

Thomson Resources Chief Executive Officer, Eoin Rothery said: “While the initial assays received did not encounter high grade mineralisation, the number of consistent anomalous gold assays returned in drilling over the area confirms that the Ares prospect is part of a significant mineralised system”.

“Once we receive the one-metre sample results from this drilling, we will combine them with the historical holes to help define the next stages of exploration, likely to include a systematic programme of aircore drilling to clearly define hot spots in the gold bearing zone“.

“Thomson is still in the beginning stages of its drilling program, with commencement due for its high priority Cobar-type base and precious metal targets such as Cuttaburra and F16 where drill testing will provide greater certainty around the nature of mineralisation. Access has significantly improved after prohibitive weather conditions, which will allow us to commence drilling early in Q4 of FY2010/2011 ”.
