Thomson Resources Ltd (ASX:TMZ) Ares Gold Project Drilling Started

Drilling commenced at Ares Gold Project
 
- A program of 10 RC drill holes has commenced at Thomson Resources’ Ares Gold Project
- Maiden drilling program since successful IPO in December, 2010
- Drilling to target extensions to known gold mineralisation – historical shallow drilling results revealed 8m at 5.8g/t Au at the centre of the project area
- Previous air core drilling by Newcrest Mining Limited identified gold anomalism along strike, north and south
 
Thomson Resources Ltd (ASX: TMZ) is pleased to announce that drilling has commenced at its Ares gold project in northwestern NSW. The program of ten reverse circulation (RC) holes is designed to target extensions to the known mineralisation as well as provide better definition of gold zones already identified.
 
Six holes are to be drilled in the outcropping gold-bearing quartz vein area, while four holes are drilled to test possible extensions up to 1.4km along strike. The drill program consists of a total of 1,600m and the Company expects to complete it by mid-March 2011, with first assay results expected by the end of March.
 
Thomson Resources Managing Director, Eoin Rothery said: “We are very pleased to have commenced our first drilling program as a listed company at the Ares Gold Project in New South Wales, after some delay due to rain”.
