Healthcare group, Stirling Products Limited (ASX:STI) advises that the Company's first contract manufacturing operations commenced last Friday at its Cape Breton, Nova Scotia high-tech pharmaceutical plant.
This follows a frustrating year of delay during which the Company was required to totally re- validate all plant and equipment as well as processes and procedures in order to regain full pharmaceutical manufacturing licensing through Health Canada.
As advised earlier this month the initial contract is for small runs of only 300 kg of
tableted product, however, following meetings with potential clients attended by the Company's Managing Director in Canada last week, further contracts are now in process of being secured. The Company will be required to obtain a Drug Identification Number (DIN) through Health Canada for each product to be manufactured.
The plant will later this month also commence manufacturing product using its existing paracetamol (acetaminophen) stock.
