Sipa Resources limited (ASX:SRI) Thaduna Drilling Update

Sipa is pleased to announce that we have received very encouraging copper, and geological, results from the early phase of a major RAB drilling rogramme conducted at Thaduna in May and June of this year.

- six, 100 metre-spaced, vertical holes have returned highly anomalous copper, of up to 0.4% over a width of at least 600 metres, in deeply weathered rock

- these six holes are within a northeast trending copper anomaly at least 6 kilometres long and are 500 metres east of earlier holes that returned up to 0.4% copper, which is newly named as the Enigma Anomaly (Figs. 1, 2)

- a second northwest trending copper anomaly, of up to 382 ppm copper and at least 2.5 kilometres long, intersects the northeast trend in the Enigma Anomaly (Fig. 2)

- the previous 0.4% copper has recently been followed-up with a line of ‘overlapping’ angled RAB holes, at least two of which contain rocks interpreted as deeply weathered granite (Fig. 2). Three of these holes also contained sparse copper  mineralisation, in the form of malachite

- the rocks logged as granite are the first evidence of felsic igneous rocks within the Proterozoic Yerrida Basin and can be interpreted as either a Proterozoic felsic igneous intrusion into the sediments of the Yerrida Basin, or an Archaean basement  granite thrusted into the sedimentary basin sequence along a major fault

- if the granite is a felsic intrusion it would be the first felsic igneous rock documented in the Proterozoic Yerrida Sedimentary Basin - just as the basaltic rocks encountered in Sipa’s deep (1,017 metre) diamond drill hole of late last year, 2.5 kilometres northeast of these new results, was the first evidence of any volcanic activity in the Basin

- the presence of a mineralised possible granite intrusion at the Enigma Anomaly on the southern margin of a large magnetic anomaly, that the deep diamond hole was aimed at, may give strength to our earlier interpretation that the magnetic anomaly may be prospective for Porphyry Copper-gold or Iron Oxide Copper Gold mineralisation

- If the granite is thrusted Archean basement then the structure may well be a major control on copper mineralisation as basement-basin structures typically are (e.g.,  Mt. Isa)
