Elk Petroleum Ltd (ASX:ELK) Oil Production Commences at Ash Creek

Oil Production Commences at Ash Creek

- Commissioning of the facilities and oil production at Trusler #1 well has commenced.
- Production from Trusler #8 expected to commence this week (US time).

Elk Petroleum Ltd (ASX Code: ELK) today announced that production has commenced at its 100% Elk owned Ash Creek oil field. With power connected to the field, the pump in the Trusler #1 well was put into production and flow directed to the production facilities. Operation of the facilities will be tuned with the production from Trusler #1, prior to starting the pump in the Trusler #8 well.

Elk Managing Director Bob Cook said, “This milestone marks an important step for Elk at the Ash Creek oil field. We look forward to also commencing production at Trusler #8.”

Re-injection of the produced water into Trusler #9 well and tuning of the controls of that system will commence as the produced water from Trusler #1 and #8 accumulates.

Production rates from the wells will be made available as soon as they stabilise.

The Application for a Permit to Drill (APD) for Trusler #4 necessary for re-entry of an abandoned well has been approved by the Wyoming Oil & Gas Conservation Commission. Re-entry of Trusler #4 will be planned once production is established from Trusler #1 and #8.

Elk will award a contract later this month for the construction of a production history matched model of the Ash Creek reservoir. The model will be initially used to assist with immediate development plans for the field and ultimately used to forecast the expected recovery from the implementation of a chemical flood program.
