The Antares Small Companies Fund is an actively managed Australian shares fund designed to enhance returns by investing in a diversified portfolio of Australian small companies.
The Fund’s objective is to outperform the Benchmark by 5% (before fees) per annum over a rolling 5 year period.
Fund commentary
The Antares Small Companies Fund delivered a return of -0.1% (net of fees) for the month of April, underperforming its benchmark index by 1.8%.1 The small companies sector of the Australian sharemarket performed relatively well in April, with the S&P/ASX Small Ordinaries Accumulation Index ending the month up 1.7%. This was mainly due to a strong rebound in small resource stocks as iron ore and oil prices strengthened and mining companies posted generally favourable quarterly production data. Small industrial stocks underperformed, ending the month down 2.8%.
