The Antares Small Companies Fund is an actively managed Australian shares fund designed to enhance returns by investing in a diversified portfolio of Australian small companies.
The Fund’s objective is to outperform the Benchmark by 5% (before fees) per annum over a rolling 5 year period.
Fund commentary
The Antares Small Companies Fund delivered a return of 2.8% (net of fees) for the month of July, outperforming its benchmark index by 1.2%.1
The small companies sector of the Australian sharemarket delivered positive returns in July but significantly underperformed the broader sharemarket. The S&P/ASX Small Ordinaries Index rose 1.7% compared to the 4.4% rise in the S&P/ASX 200 Accumulation Index. The market was constrained by weakness in small resource stocks (-9.0%) whilst small industrial stocks (+3.6%) performed relatively well.
